The Coach and Horses is a legendary pub in Soho's long history, favoured by innumerable famous faces - writers, actors, journalists and many more. On a Hidden London walk on the day we heard about John Hurt's passing, it seemed entirely appropriate to pop in for a swift pint and to raise a glass to the old curmudgeon in one of his favourite haunts.

The Coach & Horses was thought to be one of the first properties to be built in Bruton Street, Mayfair. Famous residents of Bruton Street include Lord Berkeley 1738, the dramatist Sheridan's grand political dinner in 1786, The Earl of Strathmore, The Duchess of York 1926 and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth all lived here.
