This is a circuit - a creek walk and swim, then returning on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk track. We start on the Great Walk.

Find a prime spot on the viewing platform high above the Obi Obi Gorge and Mary River Valley. Take in the endless views of luxuriant green rainforest, piccabeen groves and the top of Mapleton Falls as it begins its 120 metre plunge to the pool below. Look for Australian peregrine falcons soaring and roosting near the waterfall.

It passes through open woodland along ridges and crosses bridges and boardwalks over palm-lined streams. A short spur track, 265m from the start, leads to Obi Obi Creek. Another spur track, 225m long, leads to Narrows lookout, which provides a splendid view over the Narrows Gorge. The main track continues up a ridge to a large gully.

The Obi Obi Gorge is an easily accessed section of the Sunshine Coast hinterland just down from Maleny. There's a carpark near Baroon Pocket Dam on Narrows Road and from there its only a short walk down to the picturesque Obi Obi gorge.

4. Obi Obi Boardwalk. This was one we stumbled onto without really knowing it was there. The Obi Obi creek itself is a feature of several short hikes and spots we regularly go to around Maleny but this Obi Obi boardwalk was new to us. The trail is a walking path that starts right in the village.

The state of the two earlier walking tracks incorporated in the Great walk, the Obi Obi Creek Track and the Tcheergun Track, is generally good for tracks that are now over 20 years old.
